Being a native of the area I watch Windham grow up from a very country town to what we have today. As a youth I rode my dirt bike through what are now neighborhoods. There was not much back then and 111 was little road. The biggest thing in town was the original Klemms Bakery which was located where the McDondald and Mobile gas station are now and the fruit stand across the street was the other hot spot. WOW it was crazy then. But watching it grow, seeing the roads get widened and watch Windham become its own has been a great experience.
When I was a kid there was the Pelham/Windham Razorbacks and high schoolers went to Pinkerton. Now Windham has their own football team and high school. To say it has grown up is an understatement.

While you are in Windham make sure to have breakfast at Mary Ann's. Great food and service with a ton of nostalgia. It really feels like you are back in the 50's. Another icon of the area is the Lobster Tail when I was a kid we would go there once per month. I have not been back in a while but thinking I am due for a visit.
